PB&J NIGHT NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Beginning September 15 we will offer a meal with our children's mid week program. We would like to ask the congregation to donate bread, peanut butter, jelly and cookies for that meal. We'll collect items in boxes at the back of the sanctuary. We would also like to invite any adults who like children to join the them for this simple meal each week. Deb will offer an adult Bible study after dinner if you'd like to stay.

WANTED

Volunteers are needed to help people and their families at end-of-life.  Great River Hospice is seeking people willing to provide companionship to patients.  Musicians are also needed to deliver music care.  Volunteer training begins September 23 rd.  Please call 319-768-3350 for more information.

 BOOMERANG BACKPACKS

The new school year has arrived and we are gearing up for resuming "Boomerang Backpacks" at Grimes Elementary School.  I would like to ask members of the congregation to contact me if they would like to be buyers of groceries or deliver backpacks.  Please contact Mike Gorman at 208-0842 or mtgorm@gmail.com.

TREASURE CHEST from Janet Calvin

The  Treasure Chest is in need of gifts to be sent in September.  These gifts go to the Children’s Cancer Unit at the University of Iowa.  After undergoing painful, but necessary, procedures, the children look forward to choosing a special gift.  Thanks to all who have been keeping our Treasure Chest full so that we may contribute monthly to this worthy cause.

  FEED THE WORLD--THE HEIFER PROJECT

The mission committee has resurrected the Heifer Project and has asked the church's children to gather quarters each Sunday. Mike Gorman made the darling multi animal bank they've been using. Starting September 12 this bank will be kept on the children's table in Fellowship Hall. If you would like to contribute to the Heifer Project you're welcome to drop your own quarters in there or give them to a child to feed the bank. The bank's tubes are designed to hold only quarters.
