Youth

S.M.U.C. (Student Ministry Under Christ) is a Sunday evening program for youth in both Middle and Senior High Schools. They meet from 6-8 pm most Sundays either at our church, or another downtown church. This group formed in 2008 and consists of youth from several downtown churches.
During this time they snack, learn lessons regarding their faith, discuss issues important to them and play some wild games together.
This group also volunteer to help at events around their community. They attend special events such as concerts together, too.

Each year students who have gone through Confirmation Class and those in high school are invited to attend a weekend youth conference in St. Louis. There are usually around 10,000 teens at this event.

Child care is provided in our nursery during church services, youth club and special events. The caregivers there are all Christians who will rock, play and read to the children during their stay.

Sunday School meets between church services and is provided for children from age 3 through high school. Curriculum used is Bible based. Classes taught are appropriate to each age group. Our teachers are all enthusiastic volunteers led by the holy spirit who share the Good News in exciting ways each week.

Wednesday night is Youth Club when we open our doors to children age 3 (diaper free) through the 8th grade. Child care is available for children under the age of 3 if their parents choose to attend with their youth. Starting at 6:00 a snack is shared. The church provides a healthy snack for everyone. Following this, everyone goes to lessons according to their age. First they practice music or puppets then they go to religion classes. Students in eighth grade are eligible to join the church as adults. Their classes are held during the last half of youth club. The third Sunday of each month from October through March is designated as Youth Sunday when our young people participate in the service sharing their music, song and puppet shows. S.M.U.C.
